EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGIES
-  Technology refers to the collection of tools that make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. In the earlier times, the use of tools by human being was for the process of discovery and evolution. tools remained the same for a long time in the earlier part of history of mankind but it was also the complex human behaviors and tools of this era that modern language began as believed by many archaeologists. Technology refers to knowledge and utilization of tools,techniques and systems in order to serve a bigger purpose like solving problems or making life easier and better.Its signifies on humans is tremendous because technology helps them adapt to the environment. 
   As technology becomes more prevalent in the classroom, teachers have new ways to empower student learning. this lesson will explain how technology can be used to empower students.
  In modern education, there is a focus on helping students take control of their learning and become responsible for their education. The trend towards empowering students, or helping them take ownership of learning and be excited by their education, has been facilitated by an increasing access to technology. This lesson will show how technology can help empower students by allowing you to follow a student through his school day.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY TODAY( ICT )

- ICT ( Information and Communication Technology - or Technologies ) is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application encompassing radio, television, cellular phones, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and application asssociated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is basically our society's effort to teach its current and emerging citizens valuable knowledge and skills around computing and communication devices, software that operates them, application that run on them and systems that are built with them. As a matter of fact, we are living constantly evolving digital world. ICT has an impact on nearly every aspect of our lives - from working to socializing, learning to playing. The digital age has transformed the way young people communicate, network, seek help, access information and learn. We must recognize that young people are now an online population and access is through a variety of means such as computers, TV and mobile phones. It is in this premise that educational technology and e - learning is taught in or out of the classroom since educational technology is used by learners and educators in homes, school, business, and other settings.

IV. WORLD WIDE WEB

WORD WIDE WEB
- A system that enables you to access hypertext documents and other files over the internet.This technology proposed by Tim Berners-Lee (1989), which a database and interface will be implemented to associate links in readable documents.


EVOLUTION OF WEB 1.0, WEB 2.0 TO WEB 3.0

  • WEB 1.0 ( Read only Web )
- It is "readable" phrase of the World Wide Web with flat data. Web 1.0 is simply an information portal where users passively receive information without being given the opportunity to post review,comments, and feedback.

  • Web 2.0 ( Read-and-Write Web )
- It is the "writable" phrase of the World Wide Web with interaction data. Web 2.0 encourages participation, collaboration, and information sharing.Example of web 2.0 applications are Youtube, Wiki, Flickr, Facebook, and so on. 
  • Web 3.0 ( Semantic Executing Web )
It is the “executable” phrase of Word Wide Web with dynamic applications, interactive services, and “machine-to-machine” interaction. Web 3.0 is a semantic web which refers to the future. In Web 3.0, computers can interpret information like humans and intelligently generate and distribute useful content tailored to the needs of users. One example of Web 3.0 is Tivo, a digital video recorder. Its recording program can search the web and read what it finds to you based on your preferences.

- These application with the Web 2.0 and are used in communicating and socializing with other application users in virtual communities and networks. Formats: blogs, enterprise social networks, forums, photo sharing sites and product selling, review sites, research sharing, special interest groups, social games, social networks and video sharing.

-One of the most ideal applications laid down for ICT and World Wide Web is for research and education.Since Web 1.0 the main objectives of Internet sites are to share and disseminate information.

- These are programs designed to search or mine the World Wide Web based on keywords provided by user. they return research results such as web sites, files, photos, or other media files.
  • Research Indexing Sites
- These are web site dedicated to compile and index researches done by academic researchers, engineer, social scientist and so on.
  • The Massive Online Open Course (MOOC)
- These are Web sites dedicated to teach and inform users focused on different areas. The delivery of information is similar to classroom lectures setup, wherein lectures and assignments are delivered and submitted respectively online.

  • Employment Web Sites
- These are Web sites that enable companies to post job vacancies and also accommodate job seekers.
  • Electronic Commerce (e-commerce)
- This is a technology that uses electronic means to trade products and currencies. it is also includes any technology that introduces any technology that introduces ease in business management and costumer convenience.
